Core Values
In your first session with me we will assess your core values.
Below is a Q&A so you know what to expect.
- What are core values?
Core values are based on how you see the world and your existence.
2. How are they assessed?
We rate values from 1 to 5.
Rating 1 being insignificant and a rating of 5 being key to your existence.
Any rating between 1 to 5, is on a sliding scale of importance and relevance.
3. Why are they important to analyse them?
To measure your values and, if needs be, to re-evaluate your rating.
If you are feeling mentally challenged with let’s say depression or anxiety, it is worth doing a core value assessment. Then, after 3 to 6 months once a course of treatment has been put in place from self-help (mindfulness, journaling etc.), working with an intuitive mental health counsellor (not a clinical counsellor) to working with a GP and being on prescription medication, a values assessment should be completed. This practice will allow you to cross-examine and analyse your ratings.
4. Are they fixed or are they reviewed during our sessions?
Absolutely not; without question, ratings against certain values such as ‘Achievement’, ‘Balance’, ‘Faith’, ‘Happiness’, ‘Love’, ‘Respect’, Self-Respect’ and ‘Success’ will undoubtingly change after just an initial 8-week programme with a non-clinical mental health counselling professional.
5. How often should they be reconsidered?
Ideally, every 3 to 6 months.
6. Why is it useful to re-evaluate them?
To ascertain your own development.
Feel free to get in touch if you would like to know more about your core values and how they influence your behaviours.
